Home Apothecary: 500+ Natural Remedies
As someone who used to work in healthcare, I do enjoy modern medicine. I know many people who underwent chemo therapy, surgery, and who are close with their doctors for chronic care. However, I grew up learning that the hospital and prescriptions were for emergencies. I knew by the age of 7 that peppermint helps with nausea, a warm washcloth and hot bath with tylenol will help to break a fever, and tea will fix just about anything-even a broken heart.
I wanted to do more research on holistic or natural remedies. My mom taught me just about everything I know, which to be fair is a decent amount. She and I treat most things ourselves, unless we know we can’t. When I found this book was looking for people to read and review, I jumped at the opportunity.
The book is broken up into chapters with smaller sections about the different topics. From tea to face-masks and toner this book has a remedy for just about everything. I had to get a notebook and write down some of the remedies I liked so I could make them myself! They were very detailed, and all of the recipes had many of the same ingredients, so you don’t have to break the bank if you want to try these out.
That being said, these are NOT a replacement for going to the doctor. These are an at home way to help simple things like nausea or headaches. Please do not use these in place of modern medicine.
Overall, I really enjoyed expanding my holistic knowledge. I will be trying some of the ideas in here, mostly for skin care because that is something I’m trying to prioritize in the new year. Definitely go check this out!
