Gifts for Readers: Valentine’s Day Edition

If your partner doesn’t know what to get you for Valentine’s Day, or you’re the partner who needs some inspiration from a reader, this is the post for you.

I am a lover of all things literature related. There are some really cute gift ideas for the reader in your life for all holidays. But to a reader, nothing says “I love you” or “Be Mine” like fictional characters and candles.

Of course, the first option is always books off our wish-list. Know the genre your reader likes, or try a blind date with a book! A lot of retailers have these options for Valentine’s Day to get readers in the mood to try new books. You could make your own blind date with a book too if you wanted! All you would need to do is buy a book, get the tropes of it, and some cute bookish accessories like pens and a bookmark so that the reader in your life can annotate it.

You could always do a book bouquet, as well. Popularized on Tiktok, all you do is buy a few books (as many as your bank account can handle) and with the help of YouTube or Tiktok follow a tutorial to make this. This is something I’ve wanted to be gifted for a very, very long time.

A solid option to go with is merchandise themed around their favorite book. So many bookish small businesses have incredible merch from just about every mainstream book and book series. Due to the current economic state of the U.S., orders might take some time to get in so if you are deciding to go this route, make sure to put your order in ASAP. Many small businesses would really appreciate your orders, and any reader would enjoy book merch.

Finally, you could make a book basket. What is that, you ask? Go to a store, grab a cute basket. Go to the book section and see if there is a book from your partner’s wish-list or a book you think they would like. Once you have a book or two, go grab some fuzzy socks, their favorite drink and snacks, maybe a candle or a bookmark and write a note for them! Not only does it give the gift of comfort, but a lot of thought goes into a handmade note from the person you love.

I hope this is helpful to all partners of readers! If you have any questions or suggestions on this topic or my blog in general, please feel free to reach out via email or Instagram!
